Private Individual and Private Group Instruction

Sandrina conducts private individual instruction as well as small and large group privates. Sessions are customized to fit the group's or individual's needs. Because there is flexiblity in duration, depth and customizing, please contact Sandrina for pricing information.

Private individual lessons are a good choice for:
1. Those not able or willling to attend public group instruction
2. Those who have missed some public classes and require make-up classes
3. Dancers who've been out of practice and and would like brush-up lessons
4. The exceptional student who has excelled in public sessions and wishes to go further.

Small group (1-5 people) private sessions are perfect for:
1. Like-minded friends who are curious about the dance and not able to make the time slot for public weekly lessons
2. Special groups wanting a specialized activity in a more intimate setting.
3. Small groups of more experienced dancers wanting a higher level on instruction not offered in a public session.

Large Group (6-20 people) private sessions are a nice option for:
Special occasions where groups of women are gathered - corporate retreats, conventions, wedding & baby showers, women's symposiums and special interest groups, sororities, etc. In addition to instruction, a performance by Sandrina may also be included.

Belly Dance Workshops for Body, Mind & Spirit

Sandrina instructs a variety of public workshops in her area throughout the year (such as her popular Drum Solo Workshop - see blog). She also travels to other areas to conduct them. Her enthusiastic and informative instruction is designed to provide not only fun & fitness, but a greater appreciation of the female form through this mysterious and expressive dance. For women of all shapes, sizes & fitness levels. Please contact Sandrina for more information on hosting a workshop in your area.

The following are integral to each workshop, in differing degrees:

*Middle East Rhythms, often with live drumming
*Incorporating moves to music

.
The amazing women in this private workshop were
enthusiastic, positive and a joy to teach.

What Classes are Offered / Which Level is Best Suited For Me?

Sandrina takes dancing and especially teaching very seriously. From her you will receive a structured, positive, progressive learning experience. Click here to read feedback on Sandrina's lessons. You will be given the opportunity to learn and perfect the fundamentals and to gain a solid background and inventory of belly dance moves. Strengthening exercises will make up a good portion of each class. Often if time permits, a group choreography will be taught in both upper levels and a variety of styles will be touched upon. In the Intermediate levels, finger cymbal studies and Middle Eastern rhythms will be introduced. Drop-in classes are not usually offered; even though they can be convenient, they are NOT the best way to learn. Although everyone is different, for many people, repeating a session of the same level is very worthwhile before taking the next level higher.

Beginner's Belly Dance is recommended for those who have had a little or no previous training in belly dance. These classes start at ground zero and end with a solid foundation of core moves and footwork. Proper posture, warm up andt true technical breakdown of moves is taught so even for those having taken some previous classes, especially with a different teacher, starting back at ground zero is not a bad idea. Both levels are structured to increase progress weekly.

Those contemplating classes at the Beginner Plus level should possess a solid foundation of basic belly dance moves, and be able to fully execute horizontal figure 8's, upper body isolations, hip circles, and basic footwork patterns. A good understanding of gluteus and abdominal isolations should be evident, although the ability to execute may still be in progress.

Intermediate Level I, is the next level up. Students registering for this level should possess a more-than-basic inventory of dance moves, with good execution including combinations and layering. They should have experience with choreography, public performance and also possess the skills to improvise dance moves and freely "feel" the music. Veil and finger cymbal experience with a basic knowledge of some Middle East rhythm patterns is a pre-requisite.

Note: Not all levels are offered during each public session and some levels may be mixed. Student interest and student abilities all influence what level is offered, as does Sandrina's time and travel schedule.
